The RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival is always a race that many fans look forward to and could be the first glimpse we get of Gold Cup contenders in years to come. This staying novice chase race is an ideal place for potential Gold Cup horses to show us what they are capable of and many horses have won this race before going on to run well in the Gold Cup. The excitement surrounding RSA Chase 2023 odds is matched by the excitement in the betting market and many people will already have chosen their horse for the RSA Chase, such is the popularity of the event.
The betting right now shows many exciting names for RSA Chase 2023 and if just half of those horses turn up for this race in March then we are sure to see a great renewal of the race. With a distance of three miles and half a furlong, horses need the same level of stamina to win this race that they do a Gold Cup, which is why it makes this race an ideal preparation race for the big one in years to come. We have seen some thrilling finishes to the race over the years, perhaps none more so than last year’s dramatic finish between Might Bite and Whisper. With Might Bite close to the head of the Gold Cup market this season, it just shows how good you have to be to win this race. Let's check our RSA Chase tips.

With so much good hurdle form and a wide spread of horses all with different backgrounds, solving the RSA Chase betting enigma can be a real puzzle. However, when watching horses hurdling you can usually tell which of them are ready for the big fences and which need to stay hurdling. You also need to find a horse that has done something in the past that shows you they are ready to handle this distance of over three miles and the test that brings.
A horse who looks tailor-made for fences this season is Monalee, who came a brilliant second in the Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle at the festival last season. He won two races last season, came second behind some impressive horses and being a point to point winner, he will love going back to the bigger fences. Anything this horse did last season was a bonus, his future lies over the bigger fences and we will see a lot of improvement from him because of that this season. Finian’s Oscar missed the Cheltenham Festival last season through injury but won Grade One races at Aintree and Sandown. He too is a point-to-point winner and looks set to improve again for the step back up to the bigger fences. Before delving into more RSA Chase odds, let's see the favourites.

Monalee looks to be tailor-made for this type of race; he looks a strong stayer and one who will be more at home over the bigger obstacles. He showed a high level of form last season, despite running over smaller obstacles, which aren’t his strength and he is really expected to excel this season. His form from last season is very good despite that, and he stayed in very nicely up the Cheltenham hill to chase Penhill in the Albert Bartlett.
He won a Grade Three last season but fell just short when running against the best horse and because of that he could have slipped under the radar a little. When looking for a horse for this race you often have to ask yourself, could you see the horse lining up in a Gold Cup in two years’ time? The answer for us with Monalee is a definite yes, he looks tailor-made for the race and should go close. He could be one of the RSA Chase winners.

Finian’s Oscar missed the Cheltenham Festival due to injury last season, but he still managed to win two Grade One races, and come second by a short head in another. He has proven himself to be high class over hurdles and looks set to do the same over the bigger obstacles. He has only raced over two and a half miles so far, although has won a three-mile point to point and looks to be better the further he goes.
ALT: Jockeys handling a jump at the RSA Steeple Chase
It would have been great to see him at the Cheltenham Festival, but his absence from the festival and a lack of a course run makes him even more intriguing. He will be fine over the bigger fences and will improve for the extra distance that he is sure to be run over this coming season. He is another who would not look out of place lining up for a Gold Cup in two years’ time, just like Monalee and is topping the RSA Chase trends.

Nicky Henderson has a lot of good staying chasers and he always targets this race with the best that he has. We saw evidence of that last season when he trained not only the winner but also the second horse home. Elsewhere there isn’t a trainer who has dominated this race, such is the quality of all those taking part.
